We are a Utah-based firm that serves clients nationwide with tax preparation, planning, strategy, accounting, bookkeeping, financial statement, business valuation, and cost segregation services.
Our Team
Brent Bement, CPA, CVA
Brent received his Master’s & Bachelor’s Degrees in Accounting from the University of Utah. Shortly after he became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Valuation Analyst. Before graduating, he was able to learn Spanish and spend 2 years volunteering for his church in Argentina. While at the University of Utah he enjoyed playing on the Utah lacrosse team as well as learning alongside so many great people. He is married to Candice, and they have 5 children.
In addition to accounting, he enjoys all outdoor activities. Especially archery, mountain biking, golf, hiking, camping, hunting, and target shooting. He also enjoys fitness activities including half marathons, relay races, and weight lifting. He has also been able to work with youth from Valley Mental Health and Hopeful Beginnings on a weekly basis as a part of the Respite Program. He coordinates with the parents and plans activities to provide relief to the kids and families. This program also helps the kids build social and relationship skills.
He works with all types of clients here at the firm including tax, accounting, audit, and valuation clients.

Jared Christensen, CPA
Jared joined Bement & Company in 2005. Jared graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters of Accounting in May of 2005. He gives special thanks to University of Utah professors Ken Hanni, Gerald Searfoss and James Woolley.
Jared and his family currently reside in the Salt Lake Valley. He enjoys working at Bement & Company with his great co-workers amid the wonderful atmosphere present there.

Brandon Bement
Brandon joined Bement & Company in 2009. Brandon received his degree in accounting from the University of Utah and works with our individual and business clients in accounting and tax preparation.
Brandon enjoys being outdoors, camping, practicing archery and spending time with his wife and kids.

Christie Van Tassell
Christie joined Bement & Company in 1993. Christie moved to Salt Lake City from Idaho in the Fall of 1992, after graduating as Valedictorian from High School, where she had served as High School Student Body Vice-President. She began attending LDS Business College and was awarded a Huntsman Scholarship and a Sophomore Scholarship. While at LDSBC, Christie actively participated as Student Body Activities Leader and was on the Dean’s List. In May of 1995, she completed her Administrative Associate Degree from LDSBC.
Christie currently resides in Murray with her husband, Brian. They enjoy traveling, hiking, sports, and spoiling their furkids. They are both very active in animal rescue and Christie formed her own rescue group, Fuzzy Pawz Rescue which supports Utah and Idaho.

Jamie Beutler
Jamie has been part of our team for over 6 years and we look forward to many more years with her. She began as a receptionist and has also started assisting in individual tax preparation.

Charla Tapa
Charla has been employed at Bement & Company since 2002. She is currently the office manager. Charla’s primary responsibilities include payroll, bank reconciliation, tax return compilation, human resource duties, etc.
Charla enjoys reading, baking and spending time with her family. She and her husband Sami reside in Bountiful with their two children.

Founder, Ken Bement, CPA
May 23, 1956 to June 30, 2017
Ken Bement was the founder of Bement & Company in 1989, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his accounting background, including time at notable firms like Coopers and Lybrand, and Price Waterhouse. He wasn’t just the boss; he set the tone for our company culture with a mix of professional excellence and a straightforward approach to business. Ken was a University of Utah graduate who made the bold move to start his own firm after years in the industry. Outside of work, Ken was a family man with six kids and was involved in his community and church, with a particular fondness for outdoor activities. His legacy at Bement & Company is one of strong leadership and a clear vision, shaping the way we operate to this day. His influence remains a guiding force behind our ongoing commitment to quality and integrity in our work.
